Shirt: The Limited

Tank: Old navy

Jeans: Express

Boots: Steve Madden

Necklaces: Amy Cornwell Designs

This outfit is relatively boring but I couldn't help wanting to show off my new Steve Madden rain boots. They are hunter green with an orange striped zipper up the back - how fun is that?! Makes rainy Saturdays just a tiny bit less disappointing when I can slip these babies on!

I spent the day running errands and then off to small group. It was actually a little too chilly for this thin cotton shirt but I was feeling the pink scarf and just built the rest of the outfit from there. I spent half the winter looking for the perfect red plaid lumberjack button down but never could find anything I loved that fit well.

On a side note: What's up with putting pockets on the front of everything lately? What woman walks around with stuff in a breast pocket? End rant.

Well, the break was nice while it lasted but it appears Old Man Winter has returned to my little corner of the world. We've been enjoying 60 degree weather but the high today was mid-30's and there's snow in the forecast for tomorrow. Awesome.

I'm trying to look on the bright side: I have one last chance to wear all my favorite winter pieces, like these Rocket Dog boots.

Even snow clouds have a silver lining.

I've always had a love affair with stripes and the fact that they are 'in' this season has only exacerbated the problem. And if it's black and white stripes? Forgetaboutit. That baby's coming home with me!

I was hooked the minute I saw this grandpa cardigan at Old Navy. I've worn it at least once a week since I bought it back in February. And if you know me, you know that's not normal. That's true love.

So, um, about that two month abandonment absence? Let's just forget that ever happened, okay? Can we still be friends if I promise to do better?

Sunday I had a ton of errands to run in the beautiful sunshine. We finally hit 40F here and I'm pretty sure our entire town was out enjoying the sunshine!

When I first heard of jeggings I thought it was the most ridiculous idea I'd ever heard. Well, maybe second only to bringing back neon and shoulder pads last season, but I digress.....I didn't think I'd ever set foot leg inside a jegging - boy was I wrong. I found a pair on clearance at Express in December and I have been wearing them out ever since! Jeggings are to boots what peanut butter is to jelly. I am in love. Now my only regret is waiting so long to try them (and not buying two pairs while they were on sale!).

It's been a cold, wet week here in Indy. Four straight days of snowy, icy weather make me so happy to be working from home again this winter!

I went out Wednesday night to do a little Christmas shopping and have dinner with friends. there was only one requirement for my wardrobe: STAY AS WARM AS POSSIBLE.

Knee socks? Check.

Faux fur lined boots? Check.

Double-knit cardigan? Check.

Mission accomplished.

I'm back home after a wonderful week with my loved ones in SC. I've been a bit spoiled seeing my family twice in November, all last week and again in just 9 days! I will be one sad girl in January when all the fun is over.

We had a busy day out and about yesterday despite the yucky weather. After a full morning, we met my bestie and her husband at a sports bar to watch the Steelers/Bengals game. Lucky for me, the Colts played on Thursday night so I didn't feel too bad supporting Nate's team in my Steelers tee. Although I did manage to cover it up just a tiny bit! HA! Can't be too unfaithful to my boys in Blue.

We had our small group Christmas dinner at a Brazilian restaurant downtown tonight. For weeks now I've been planning to try out my new sparkly tweed Express shorts with tights. Imagine my immense disappointment when I woke up this morning to driving snow that just never quit. Four inches of snow and four inch heels just don't mix. Boo.

So it was on to Plan B. Slightly less dressy but much warmer and less dangerous! Turns out Plan B was a blessing in disguise - the roomy dress came in very handy when I ate my weight in cheddar cheese puff biscuits at dinner!

I was also debuting my new blunt bangs. I went in for a trim this morning and decided there was no time like the present to give them a try. Don't know how long they'll last but at least I can finally say I gave them a go!

Happy December! Indy rang in the new month with it's first accumulation of snow. Not a lot but enough to keep me bundled up when I had to run out for a bit. It's days like yesterday that make me glad I work from home again!

My favorite thing about the winter months is that I get to start layering again! I look through my closet and I'm positively giddy with the excitement of winter layering. Oh the possibilities!

What's your favorite thing about winter clothing?

We had a low key day around here. My family left to go back to SC (BOO!) and I started the Christmas decorating to distract myself from being left behind. We attended small group last night and I just had to wear orange to celebrate the Vols' victory over the Kentucky Wildcats Kittens yesterday afternoon.

I am also debuting my newest Amy Cornwell necklace. She recently announced that she was discontinuing this style and since I'd had my eye on it for awhile, I had to snap one up! It is a perfect reminder of all that I have to be thankful for in my life right now. I am definitely blessed.

And if you want your own ACD necklace or need to order a Christmas gift, check out Amy's Cyber Monday deals here. Promotions end tonight!

It was a tiny bit warmer today (upper 50's) but still overcast and gray, so it was the perfect weather to pull out this new sweater dress. I originally planned to belt it but then I realized it's kind of short and belting it made it a little too scandalous for church! So I nixed the belt idea.

I opted to try knee socks under my boots and I gotta say, I kind of like it. I wasn't so sure at first but it really grew on me! Definitely a good option for the really cold weather to come later this week!

I spent the better part of today at one of my favorite places - the salon. Nothing like letting someone play with your hair for three hours on a Saturday. I know that weirds some people out but I love every minute of it!

I've been lacking in my support of the Vols this season, so I decided to sport some orange in honor of their game with Memphis last night (Go Big Orange!). I literally rolled out of bed and left for my appointment, so 'ease' was the word of the day. Nothing beats slouchy boots and a knit cap for making you look put together when, truth be told, you're really lucky you even match today!

The end result of three hours at the salon. Here's hoping I can duplicate this myself tomorrow!

Love #10

I need more shoes like I need a hole in the head, but these boots from Ann Taylor Loft are practically begging to come home with me. Blonde? Suede? Over the knee? Yes, please!

Love #9

I've been on the lookout for a pair of wellies for the last two winters. These olive green beauties from Steve Madden? Well worth the wait.

Business in the front:
Party in the back:
I might be head over (rubber) heels.

We spent this weekend in Gatlinburg, TN with some college friends. Friday was traveling day - a seven hour drive! - so I needed layers that I could peel off and on as Nate and I fought over the temperature of the car. :)

I've also learned a valuable lesson in other previous road trips - Pomeranian toe nails are hell on bare legs. So I always wear pants on road trips. And take socks, regardless of the outside temperature, because my feet are always cold.

I also have rules for dressing for the airport. Do you have traveling outfit rules? Or am I just a neurotic mess when traveling?

Technically I wore this outfit on both Monday and Sunday (for about two hours). Don't lie. You know you do that, too.

I picked up this striped turtleneck at Target after seeing Ellen rock the stripes on her show a few weeks ago. Once again, you lovely readers came to my rescue with tons of suggestions on tracking down the perfect black and white striped tee. I was alerted to this Target clearance find by both Sarah and EvaNadine. It took three Targets to find it in my size, but for $3.97, it was worth it!

We went to the local elementary school carnival this evening and then out to a late dinner date. Yes, I know it's weird that we went to the carnival when we, um, don't have any kids, let alone school age ones, but what can I say? We love our neighbor kids who invited us. That, and I really wanted a cake at the cakewalk. Except this school carnival didn't have a cakewalk. Hello? What kind of school carnival doesn't have a cakewalk? I had to settle for a cupcake from the bake sale instead. Probably better for my waistline anyway.

On to the fashion part of the post. That is why you are here, right? My new flat brown boots are making their debut today. I got many fabulous options from you guys when I mentioned the Great Boot Hunt of 2010. It's amazing how a little challenge brings the lurkers out of the woodwork! While no one suggested these particular boots, several of you sent me links to boots on Endless.com (one of my favorite sites!) and while browsing those links, I ran across these. They are a little more burgundy than what I originally envisioned, but I loved the stud details on the back. And they had my size. And they were on sale. I actually ordered these and a pair of Steve Madden's, but the SM's turned out to be too small. That's the fabulous thing about Endless - free shipping and returns, so you're never afraid to take a risk and order something that you're not entirely sure about! A few of my other favorite online stores should consider this policy - I'm looking at you, Victoria's Secret!

I spent the morning at our church, organizing the filing cabinets for the sports pastor. It was a monumental task, for sure, but organizing is one of my favorite things to do. Give me a stack of file folders and a label maker and I am one happy girl.

After a hard morning's work, I figured I deserved a little reward, so I took myself to the mall to look for my new favorite Express jeans in a Regular length. Sadly, the trip was unsuccessful (they had 15 pairs in Tall, but nary a Regular in sight!), but I got four separate compliments on my necklace! Nothing like a compliment, or four, to make a girl's day!

Well, after being snowed-in for the better part of the week, I finally got out and about today. Man it felt good! I had my first cup of Starbucks in four days - that is seriously some kind of record for me!

The day was beautiful, but chilly and there is still snow everywhere so boots were a necessary evil. I literally picked my least worn boots and then built the rest of the outfit around them. Can you tell I'm over this winter bit? I even rolled up my sleeves in protest of the cold weather. What can I say? I'm a rebel.

It's SUPER BOWL time, baby! The Colts are in it to win it and I'm supporting our Boys in Blue!

This is what I wore to church. I almost wore my jersey, but decided to go a little more dressed up instead. I needn't have worried - even the senior pastor was wearing his jersey! This town is crazy for their Super Bowl football team!

I'm switching to the jersey tonight as a cheer on Peyton and Co. Go Colts!
