I'm BAAA-AAAACK! Miss me?
We took a four day weekend and headed to South Carolina to see my baby sister graduate from high school. Trips home are always a whirlwind and this one was no exception.
Thursday, June 4 - Travel Day
Tank Top: Express
Jeans: Express (Mia Ultra Skinny)
Sandals: Reefs
Earrings: Simply Irresistible (local store)
Wrap: New York & Company
Scarf: The Limited
We flew out on Thursday. I have a couple of simple rules I always follow for dressing comfortably when I fly.
1. I always wear pants. Airports and airplanes can get awfully chilly.
2. I layer on top with a tank top, a lightweight sweater and a scarf. I have been in airports that have been freezing cold even mid-summer. I have been stuck on airplanes when they turned off the air to conserve fuel. More than once, I have used my scarf to keep my feet warm when I get stuck next to the window. My motto: be prepared for anything!
3. I wear slip-on flats or sandals. Nothing that requires buckling or tying. Because we all know that airport security is a b*tch.
Of course, we were in a hurry to get out the door, so no detail shots of the tank or the earrings but they are both personal faves, so I am sure you will see them again very shortly!
Friday, June 5 -Hanging out with the fam
Dress: New York & Company
Sandals: Ann Taylor Loft
Earrings: New York & Company
Ring: The Limited
Friday we were all just hanging out, running a couple of errands and attending my dad's softball game. I packed a pair of capris for this day but at the last minute I grabbed this extra dress, just in case. I'm glad I did, because the sunburn wasn't quite healed and (TMI ahead!) shaving my legs was out of the question. So a nice maxi dress kept me cool, kept me cute and kept me covered. My grandpa asked why I was wearing my pajamas out of the house.
Do you think maxi dresses look like pajamas?
Saturday, June 6 - Graduation Day!!
Dress: New York & Company
Necklace: New York & Company
Shoes: Baker's Shoes
Sister: Emily
The graduation is held outdoors in the high school football stadium. South Carolina is ridiculously hot and humid, so I packed expecting to spend two hours in the sweltering sun. As it turns out, they kept it to an hour and the day was overcast and actually kind of pleasant. I didn't even break a sweat! I did however climb a fence in a dress and four inch heels. Nothing gets between this girl and her baby sister.
Isn't she beautiful? I'm so proud of you, Em!
Sunday, June 7 - Church and Travel Day
Dress: Ann Taylor
Sandals: Ann Taylor Loft
Earrings: New York & Company
Wrinkles: Sitting in church
Big mistake, I should have taken my pictures before church, as I was a wrinkled mess by the time I got home.
Sunday we went to church in the morning, followed by an IHOP fix and then it was time to head to the airport. In the rush (again), I didn't get a picture of my return trip outfit, but it was the same outline - jeans, a cute tank, a cardigan and my Reefs.
I love the color of this dress because it's not a color I wear very much at all. I never really know how to wear this shade of blue unless it's by itself or with white pants/shorts.
Do you have a color you struggle with wearing?

I love the color of your church dress...so rich and vibrant! And as weird as it sounds, I have a pair of brown cords that don't seem to look good with anything I have...
Love your maxi dress. It looks great on you... but because I'm so short, it does look like pajamas on me.
I've pretty much given up on the color purple. I can never find the right shade that doesn't make me look washed-out and pale.
I love that maxi dress! I have yet to find a maxi dress that I LOVE!!
