Top: New York & Company

Pants: Banana Republic

Shoes: Impo

Bracelet/Watch: New York & Company

Necklace: The Limited

This necklace was an impulse buy the other day and I think I might start following my impulses a little more often - I am totally in love with this necklace already! It bounced around merrily all day and made me feel very flapper-girl. Now I want a cute little 40's flapper dress to go with it! Funny out one little accessory can brighten your whole day.

Looking at this top, I'm not sure if it makes me look taller because you see more of my legs or if it just looks like the top is too short. It used to be one of my favorites but today I'm just not feeling it as much any more. Thoughts? Comments? Opinions?

Top: The Limited

Skirt: Express

Shoes: Apt 9 (via Kohl's)

Bracelet: Gifted

Is it just me or is this the longest week ever already? Just asking.

I felt very 1950's secretary in my high waist skirt and ruffle blouse. All I needed was a bun with a pencil through it and I would have been there. Rather fitting since I spent 3/4 of the day on the phone in front of a boring spreadsheet. But at least the bright blue of the skirt kept me awake. There's no missing me in this color!

Dress: Ann Taylor Loft

Shoes: Alfani

Bracelet: The Limited

In case you have been living under a rock didn't already know, tonight is the return of this blog's namesake show - Gossip Girl.

What's that? You didn't realize this blog was a clever spin on Gossip Girl's signature line? Well, now you do.

So in honor of the return of my favorite night of television, I was feeling a little Blair-ish today. This picture doesn't do the detailing on the dress justice. It's got it all - ruffles, buttons, and a waist defining faux belt. Add in some amazing, kicky shoes, bold jewelry and a pushing the envelope hem, and we are thisclose to full-on Blair mode. The only thing missing, of course, is her signature headband. I own several (inspired by Her Majesty!) but decided that a school-girlish headband does not exactly inspire confidence in your newest hire. Sadly, the headband stayed home.

Top: Express

Shorts: The Limited

Bracelet: The Limited

Shoes: Nine West

Earrings: Simply Irresistible

Yes, I went to church today, Mom. No, this is not what I wore.

I had nursery duty today, so my outfit was strictly utilitarian - a cotton sundress and zero jewelry.

My father-in-law came into town for a one-night visit and took us out to lunch. Then I ran a ton of errands, so I needed to be cool and comfortable for all that running around. These shorts are probably one of my favorite purchases from this summer. They are a fun black and white plaid in light weight wool. Just very different and interesting.

I don't wear too many embellished tops because I'm always afraid they'll be ruined in the wash. But I couldn't resist this super cute top on clearance last summer. And it has held up very well through several wearings - not a single sparkle lost so far! I might have to change my views on embellishments a bit.

Love #6

How fabulous are these Nanette Lepore beauties? Le sigh.

Pants: The Limited

Necklace: The Limited

Bracelet: The Limited

Shoes: Alfani

So I just now realized that I was dressed from head to toe in The Limited yesterday. Perhaps I should ease off on my shopping there - they are quickly taking over my closet!

No casual Friday for me this week. I was scheduled to have a meeting with the President/Owner of the company and wanted to make a good impression, so I skipped the jeans. Only to have the meeting rescheduled for Monday, of course! So mad I wasted my jeans day! However, I did manage to squeeze my Volunteer orange spirit in there anyway.

Pants: Ann Taylor Loft

Shoes: Aldo

Bracelets: New York & Company

Earrings: Simply Irresistible

I totally neglected to take a picture of the cute pleating detail at the neckline of this top. I promise it's not nearly as boring as it looks in the picture.

I tried several necklaces with the top but all of them just got in the way of the pleating, so I opted to go without. I focused on a pop of color with the shoes instead. The picture makes them look hot pink, but they are actually candy apple red. These were an end-of-summer clearance score - $14. Gotta love those clearance sales!

Who says you can't wear white pants after Labor Day? It's still easily in the 80's here, so I'm getting one last wearing out of all my favorite summer clothes. I'm also experimenting with some of the less worn items in my closet. There is a big purge coming soon in preparation for the long awaited Swap-n-Shop, thrown by the fabulous KT. This top is on the chopping block. I love that I can wear it to both work (with a tank top) and on a date (without a tank top), but I'm not sure I'm in love with it. Jury's still out on this one, folks.

Top: Banana Republic

Skirt: The Limited

Belt: New York & Company

Bracelet: New York & Company

Earrings: Forever 21

Shoes: Jessica Simpson (via Macy's)

I was planning to wear a different skirt with this top but totally didn't like it once I got the two pieces on together. So I made a quick change and went with this cute tulip skirt instead. A top with thicker straps made it more office appropriate than the last time I wore it. I also switched up the belt to patent leather to add a little extra interest.

I must be in the fall mood - all I can think about is how to take all these items into fall with me. Just like the dress from Sunday, I'm already thinking about wearing this with a long sleeve tee, tights and booties. The funny thing is, I know as soon as the cold weather comes, I'll be begging for it to warm up again!

Dress: The Limited

Shoes: Wild Diva (via Burlington Coat Factory)

Bracelet: The Limited

This dress was quite a departure for me when I bought it a few years ago. It was one of my first forays into The Limited and now I can easily admit that I am a bit of an addict when it comes to their clothes. It's like their stuff was made for short girls with little boobs and big hips. And, like this dress, most of it will stay in my closet for years - classic, chic and well made! Can't beat that.

This was the first time I've wrapped the sash all the way around and tied it in the front instead of the back. I must say that I really like it and think the bow in the front adds an extra little flair. Looking at the picture now I wish I'd piled on a gold necklace or two. I'll have to do that next time, maybe with some navy tights and booties.

That is all.

Jeans: Express (x2 w10)

Heels: Shii

Bracelet: New York & Company

Get used to this, dear readers - casual Fridays are going to be a festival of orange from now to the end of football season! And being that it's one of my favorite colors, there's no shortage of it in my closet.

I tried to contain my football enthusiasm and resisted dressing in fully head to toe orange, although I could have! Can't let my crazy out at work quite yet, though.

These heels are super cute and uber cheap ($3), but sadly they are ridiculously uncomfortable. One I started walking in them, I realized they are just a smidge too big. I'm hoping if I punch another hole in the straps, maybe I can still make them work.

Pants: Goody's

Shoes: Sam & Libby

Bracelet: New York & Company

Earrings: Simply Irresistible

I am completely enamored with this electric blue color that is so hot for fall. I normally tend toward warmer colors (rusts, oranges, emeralds) but I keep finding myself inexplicably drawn to this bright shade. So I'm just going with it and enjoying my time outside my color comfort zone. Now if only I could find some fabulous heels in this color, I'd be one happy girl!

Another thing I'm happy about? A three day weekend and my parents visiting tomorrow! YEAH!

Top: Gap

Pants: Ann Taylor Loft

Shoes: Unlisted

Necklace: The Limited

Ring: New York & Company

Um, yeah. So not too happy about today's 'look', if you can even call it that. I learned a very important lesson last night - I have no work pants that can be worn with flats. None.

You see, I like love am obsessed with heels - the higher, the better in my opinion. I only wear flats with denim or shorts (and, rarely, with a dress). In light of this, I have two sets of jeans: regular (for heels) and short (for flats).

Not so, the work pants! I had a field trip at work today, visiting several sites that my new company has built recently. Definitely not high heel terrain. But I also had to stay business casual because we had some other meetings with vendors while we were out, so today's outfit had to be:
1. business casual
2. pants
3. comfortable flats

I tried on every single pair of dress slacks in my closet and not a one could be worn with flats. Not even close. These khakis were the closest thing I could find, and even these aren't worn with flats in the technical sense - I'm wearing 2 inch wedges! I rarely ever wear khakis; I just don't care for them much. So I kept things basic and added a fun necklace. I felt blah all day and not at all like myself. Boo.

Note to self: Buy basic black dress slacks in short length soon.

Top: Express

Pants: The Limited

Shoes: Baker's Shoes

Bracelet: New York & Company

Earrings: New York & Company

Another fun print on top today but I'm not too crazy about this outfit overall. I'd planned to wear the top tucked into a cute little black skirt, but discovered a gigantic bruise on my knee cap when I put on the skirt this morning. Definitely not attractive, so I had to do a last minute switch-a-roo into these pants instead. No time to dig up a belt, so the shirt had to stay untucked. It's okay, I guess; just not what I was envisioning when I woke up this morning!

Here's hoping the bruise heels quickly and I can get back to my skirt loving self!
