Cardigan: New York & Company

Pants: The Limited

Necklace: New York & Company

Bracelet: New York & Company

Shoes: Michael Shannon

It was another chilly, blustery day in Indy, so I had to layer up. And even still, I was freezing most of the day! Guess it's going to take my blood a few days to thicken up enough to handle it!

I pulled out the pointy-toed heels today because a python print cardigan just screams for 'power shoes' to me. I'm not much into pointy-toed shoes - they just seem harsh to me. But I do have a few pairs in my closet for what I call "Hell on Wheels" day. You know, those days where you want to make an authoritative impression at the office? For some reason, pointy-toed heels convey that to me. Do you have a weird clothing or shoe association like that?

Also, the necklace was triple wrapped like this for about 20 minutes. When I saw this picture, I felt like it cut my neck off in a really unflattering way, so I unlooped it once and wore it a little looser like the detail picture for the rest of the day.

Autumn is definitely upon us here in the Midwest! It was deliciously chilly all day today and I couldn't have been happier!

This was not what I had originally planned to wear but when I heard the wind howling outside the house this morning, I decided to layer up a little bit. I got both the dress and the cardigan on super clearance earlier this year - less than $10 for both pieces combined! The shoes are were Baker's clearance for $15. Seriously, the most expensive thing I am wearing today is the belt!

Yes, yes, I know it's Friday and I'm supposed to be supporting my Vols, but I had a meeting with the department's Senior VP so I opted to tone down my fan-dom a little. UT's colors are orange and white, so I am technically still sporting my Volunteer pride loud and clear.

This little sweater is the perfect thing for our fickle weather today. Cool mornings and hot afternoons mean fall weather is just around the corner! I can't wait!

See Sara Shop

No outfit picture today. I took at least a dozen and not a single one turned out. I am so over my camera and it's inability to take a single focused shot some days.

I did, however, find time to pick up this cute little dress from New York and Company on my way home from work. I can't wait for it to cool down enough to wear this! I have visions of tights and booties dancing in my head! A cute little menswear vest or a chunky gray cardigan, oh my!

Can.not.wait.for.fall!

Rocking some animal print today in an effort to bring a little fun to a slow, rainy week. I am a sucker for some classic black & white. I went through a phase in high school where most of my clothes were some combination of black and white and I still struggle against that instinct when I shop. Nothing is easier or more classic than crisp black pants or a pencil skirt. As a matter of fact, I own more black pants than jeans!

These adorably flirty shoes don't help the situation either. These were my first foray into the 4-inch world and they are seriously some of the most comfortable shoes I own. I'd wear them every single day if I didn't have such a weakness for new shoes!

It may be the first day of autumn but it's anything but fall-ish here. Low 80's, rainy and ridiculously humid. As much as I'm looking forward to tights and booties, I'm taking full advantage of the warm weather by pulling out my favorite summer clothes one last time before I tuck them lovingly away for the winter.

This top rates as one of my all time favorites in my closet. I love the print, the cute little pleats, ruffles on the sleeves and the tie neck. All my favorite things rolled right into a single shirt. Love!

Excuse my wrinkled, shiny faced self. I got zero good pictures this morning, so I had to try again when I got home, so I'm a little worse for wear.

This outfit from my first week of work is the featured look on Fab Finds Under $50's inspiration calendar today, so of course I had to play along! I don't normally wear a lot of pink but I loved this sweater as soon as I saw it. However, I'm not 100% thrilled with the outfit. I feel a little plain in it. I think I will belt it or pin it with a brooch next time.

Top: Old Navy

Shorts: Nike

Shoes: New Balance

Here I am, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, at 6:30am on a Saturday. Well, as bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as I can be without my normal Starbucks venti.

I ran my very first 5K today and of course I had to look cute doing it. I can't quite stomach paying $40 for a fancy work-out top that I'm just going to sweat in, so imagine my excitement when I discovered moisture-wicking work-out wear for $5-$20 at Old Navy. I picked up a couple of these cute tops and I long-sleeved gray pullover that I wore until the race started. They are now my favorite things to run in. I'll definitely be watching for a sale so I can stock up on a few more.

One thing I won't be scrimping on anymore? Running shoes! I love my New Balance but now that I am obviously going to stick with this, I feel justified in rewarding myself with a trip to The Running Store for some customized running shoes. And definitely some moisture wicking socks - by the time three miles was done, my feet were on fire!

So excited that it's Friday!! We've got a big weekend around here: my first ever 5K, a church-wide tailgate party and the Vols face Florida at The Swamp. I just know the weekend will fly by so I was excited to start it a bit early by leaving work at noon today!

This outfit was a last minute deal. I was wearing something completely different (but still orange!) but I didn't feel confident in it at all so I changed at the last minute. I'm glad I did. Feeling anything less than fabulous is no way to start off the weekend!

I'm only working a half day today because we have our 1-yr drywall inspection at the house this afternoon. Truthfully, I didn't really want to be at the office at all so I basically went in the business casual equivalent of pajamas. Cotton top + cotton pants = work pajamas.

Feel boring and blah today. Hopefully an afternoon cuddling with my puppies will snap me out of my funk.

This necklace was an impulse buy the other day and I think I might start following my impulses a little more often - I am totally in love with this necklace already! It bounced around merrily all day and made me feel very flapper-girl. Now I want a cute little 40's flapper dress to go with it! Funny out one little accessory can brighten your whole day.

Looking at this top, I'm not sure if it makes me look taller because you see more of my legs or if it just looks like the top is too short. It used to be one of my favorites but today I'm just not feeling it as much any more. Thoughts? Comments? Opinions?

Is it just me or is this the longest week ever already? Just asking.

I felt very 1950's secretary in my high waist skirt and ruffle blouse. All I needed was a bun with a pencil through it and I would have been there. Rather fitting since I spent 3/4 of the day on the phone in front of a boring spreadsheet. But at least the bright blue of the skirt kept me awake. There's no missing me in this color!

In case you have been living under a rock didn't already know, tonight is the return of this blog's namesake show - Gossip Girl.

What's that? You didn't realize this blog was a clever spin on Gossip Girl's signature line? Well, now you do.

So in honor of the return of my favorite night of television, I was feeling a little Blair-ish today. This picture doesn't do the detailing on the dress justice. It's got it all - ruffles, buttons, and a waist defining faux belt. Add in some amazing, kicky shoes, bold jewelry and a pushing the envelope hem, and we are thisclose to full-on Blair mode. The only thing missing, of course, is her signature headband. I own several (inspired by Her Majesty!) but decided that a school-girlish headband does not exactly inspire confidence in your newest hire. Sadly, the headband stayed home.

Yes, I went to church today, Mom. No, this is not what I wore.

I had nursery duty today, so my outfit was strictly utilitarian - a cotton sundress and zero jewelry.

My father-in-law came into town for a one-night visit and took us out to lunch. Then I ran a ton of errands, so I needed to be cool and comfortable for all that running around. These shorts are probably one of my favorite purchases from this summer. They are a fun black and white plaid in light weight wool. Just very different and interesting.

I don't wear too many embellished tops because I'm always afraid they'll be ruined in the wash. But I couldn't resist this super cute top on clearance last summer. And it has held up very well through several wearings - not a single sparkle lost so far! I might have to change my views on embellishments a bit.

So I just now realized that I was dressed from head to toe in The Limited yesterday. Perhaps I should ease off on my shopping there - they are quickly taking over my closet!

No casual Friday for me this week. I was scheduled to have a meeting with the President/Owner of the company and wanted to make a good impression, so I skipped the jeans. Only to have the meeting rescheduled for Monday, of course! So mad I wasted my jeans day! However, I did manage to squeeze my Volunteer orange spirit in there anyway.
