Top: The Limited

Jeans: The Limited

Shoes: Wild Diva via Burlington Coat Factory

Ring: Gifted

Earrings: New York & Company

Can you believe it's the last day of July already? The summer has flown by! But as sad as it is to see the summer come to a close, I am super stoked for autumn! It is my absolute favorite time of the year - Volunteer football, the turning of the leaves, and a little chill in the air. Love it, love it, love it! I can't wait.

Today I was feeling a little nautical. All I needed was a cute little anchor necklace to complete the look (note to self!). Since that wasn't an option, I chose to add a few little touches of red with my jewelry instead. As I put on my shoes, I kind of wished I'd thought ahead enough to repaint my toenails red, too. Guess there's always next time!

Love #5 - Ain't too proud to beg

I saw this vest while shopping today at New York & Company. Cute, no? Too bad they are already out of size 2 at every New York & Company in my major metropolitan city and the Internet. Major bummer.

So if you just happen to be shopping at your local NY&Co and just happen to run across this vest in a size 2, perhaps you could just happen to buy it and mail it to one desperate Closet Girl? She might just happen to send you the purchase price + shipping and make you her new best friend for life...or until the next big must-have comes along.

Jeans: Express (Mia Ultra Skinny)

Belt: Ann Taylor Loft

Shoes: Baker's Shoes

Necklace: Forever 21

Bracelet: New York & Company

Sorry for the do in the way of my feet. I took no less than a dozen shots this morning and every single one was blurry or dark or had a dog in it. This was the best I got. And it's too bad too, because my shoes are FAB-u-lous.

I love the print of this blouse and the fact that it combines more than 10 different colors in one print. However, the blouse is kind of, well, blousy. I've worn it unbelted a number of times but always with some major accessories - layered necklaces or a scarf. I wanted to change it up a bit this time, so I threw on a skinny belt (turned around backwards) and a single necklace instead. I'm pleased with how it turned out.

Top: New York & Company

Jeans: Express (x2 w10)

Shoes: Charlotte Russe

Necklace: ?

Ring: New York & Company

I wish I could remember where I bought this necklace but it is one of the few items in my closet that I have zero recall on! Sorry, ladies.

I accidentally overslept this morning. That almost never happens to me so I was a little discombobulated all day. My hair was cursorily straightened, I threw on easy basics, cheated with a big necklace, missed my daily Starbucks run and spent the entire day thinking it was Thursday.

Here's hoping the real Thursday goes a little more smoothly.

Top: New York & Company

Tank: New York & Company

Shorts: Old Navy

Sandals: Ann Taylor Loft

Necklaces: Gifted

Bracelet: New York & Company

Well you certainly aren't going to lose me in a crowd today, huh? I love the pattern and colors of this top. When I realized it matched these walking shorts from Old Navy, it was a match made in heaven.

Admittedly, it's a little loud for work, but the environment is casual and I actually got a couple of compliments on it. I've also worn the top with dark denim and a navy patent belt for a more sophisticated look. Yeah for tops that work several ways!

Dress: New York & Company

Tank: Gap

Belt: Came w/a jacket from The Limited

Shoes: Sam & Libby

Bracelet: New York & Company

Earrings: Simply Irresistible

This cotton dress originally came with a matching fabric belt, but I like to switch things up a bit and break it up with a solid color. I'd really love to find a purple belt that matches the pattern but so far, no luck.

I am also loving my new black acrylic cuff from New York & Company. I've often found myself wishing I had something just like this, so when I saw it this weekend, I just had to have it! A 'Buy One, Get One 50%' PLUS a 30% off coupon might have had a little something to do with it, too!

Dress: So old, I don't even remember

Tank: New York & Company

Necklaces: The Limited

Shoes: Express

This was my first day back to the office after vacation and I was definitely not feeling it. I pulled this out because it was easy and fast. And then I got three compliments in my first thirty minutes out the door! Hello $3 dress from a decade ago. Love it!

Vacation Edition

My goodness, I can't believe it's been over two weeks since my last regular post! Between vacation and returning from vacation, I've barely had two hours to rub together!

But fashion waits for no (wo)man, so let's get to it....

Tank: New York & Company

Pants: New York & Company

In the interest of being completely honest, here is what I wore the first day in the car. We were driving six hours with two very furry dogs, so fashion took a backseat to practicality. I have two criteria for my car-ride-with-dogs outfit: 1. Can it be lint rolled? and 2. Can it be tossed in the washer upon arrival. Check and Check.

Top: Old Navy

Capris: Express

Sandals: Payless Shoes

In case you haven't been to the South lately, it is HOT. I mean like triple digits + crazy humidity hot. This gal has gotten a bit too used to the breezy Mid-west summer! It was lots of tanks and shorts for me all week. Seeing the picture here, I'm not too crazy about this outfit, but the tank will be cute under a cardigan or with a scarf in the fall.

Top: some random tween store at the mall

Shorts: Express

Sandals: Reefs

I struggled with what to wear to an amusement park on Tuesday. I knew we would get wet, so denim was out (hello, chafed inner thighs!). My go-to sundress is a no-go on roller coasters. And sneakers are a bad idea unless 'farmers tan' is the look you're going for.

So cotton shorts, a light weight tank and comfortable to walk in Reef sandals were the plan. If you've never tried a pair of Reef's, you don't know what you are missing. They are flip-flops but with arch support. The most comfortable things you will ever put on your feet and in dozens of fun colors and patterns. I add a new pair to my collection every summer (this year - yellow!) and have literally walked hundreds of miles in mine over the years!

Dress: The Limited

Girlfriend: Amber

Shoes: Baker's Shoes

Wedding #1 - Admittedly, not my best side here, but my girlie and I are modeling our dresses with pockets. You know, because we're stylish like that.

No full on body shots here, but it's accessorized with strappy black heels and big black earrings. I love the print of this dress but may not be too crazy about the cut anymore. Looking back at the pictures, I look about 5 months pregnant in every single one. Not good. Unless, you know, I actually was five months pregnant. Which I'm not.

Dress: The Limited

Shoes: Baker's Shoes

Bracelet: New York & Company

Wedding Rehearsal #2 - This one was another tough one. The invite said 'dressy casual' - but then specified coat and tie for the men. Last time I checked, wearing a suit was definitely not casual; but hey what do I know, I'm just a girl. So that threw me into a quandary. Is it more dressy or casual? For the three events we were attending (2 weddings and a rehearsal), I packed five dresses. Just in case. This isn't one of them! I found this one while shopping with my MIL earlier in the week. And it turned out to be perfect for the 'dressy casual' rehearsal. Bonus points because the dress has pockets, too! (This pic is for you, Amber!)

Dress: The Limited

Shoes: Baker's Shoes

Ring: The Limited

Handsome Escort: My husband, Nathan

Ignore the crab in the picture with me. Someone didn't want to play along with the prom picture theme.

Wedding #2 - I am in L-O-V-E with this dress. Love. Love. Love. Love. Love.

I would wear it to every single event I ever go to for the rest of my life....except then I wouldn't have any excuse to shop. And the only thing I love more than this dress is shopping.

See Sara Shop

We are officially on the downhill side of vacation now. Sigh.

But what perks a sad girl up better than scoring a great deal? Scoring a great deal at her favorite store! What can I say, I'm easy like that.

It's The Limited's friends and family weekend! 30% off everything in the store, including sale items. Cha-ching. Remember this dress from a few weeks back?

This baby is officially mine - in 8 to 10 shipping days, that is!

Vacation

{image via google images}

We are off for a jam-packed nine day trip down South - five cities, three states, two weddings, one rehearsal dinner, an amusement park and 20+ hours in the car. Needless to say, I might be gone awhile, but never fear - I have a suitcase full of fabulous clothes and my trusty camera, so there will be lots of pictures when we get back!

Tank Top: Old Navy

Jeans: Express (Stella extra skinny)

Shoes: Victoria Spenser

Scarf: Target

Bracelet: New York & Company

Earrings: Gifted

Do I look particularly sunshine-y today? I feel it!! Today is the last day before vacation and I am totally pumped. We've got a jam-packed schedule and I get to see so many of my favorite people, all in a nine day span. I was just feeling bright and bushy-tailed, so yellow stripes seemed appropriate. Added a little scarf to dress it up a bit and I was ready to conquer the day.

Tank: New York & Company

Shorts: The Limited

Necklace: New York & Company

Up until about two seconds ago, I thought I might be able to get away without getting a tan before our upcoming vacation. Hello, pasty white legs! I am so back on the spray tan wagon tomorrow!

I love the look of heels with shorts but don't find myself with the occasion to wear the combination very often. Most of the time when I am in shorts, the activity calls for sneakers or at the very least comfortable walking shoes. So if I have the chance to pair heels with shorts, I am all over it!

Too bad I was so focused on wearing my foxy heels with shorts today. I totally didn't bother to actually check the forecast. It was barely 60 degrees when I stepped out this morning! I had to run in and grab a sweater to keep warm! Oops.

Top: The Limited

Pants: New York & Company

Bracelet: New York & Company

Earrings: Gifted

Shoes: Sam & Libby

Keeping it pretty simple today in basic black pants and a cotton top. I own a couple of tops with these bow tie necks and I always struggle to tie the perfect knot. In the store they showed it tied in a cute little sideways bow at the neck, but I couldn't tie a good one to save my life this morning. It always just looked like a little much. Maybe next time I'll wear the hair back and attempt the fussy bow.

I'm a big fan of this color combo, too. It's not a lot of color, but I absolutely adore this bright kelly green.

Top: Ann Taylor Loft

Jeans: The Limited

Shoes: Apt 9 via Kohl's

Bracelet: Simply Irresistible

Earrings: New York & Company

Ever heard that song '57 channels (and nothing on)' by Bruce Springsteen? That's kind of how I felt this morning - 57 pairs of jeans and nothing to wear!

Okay, okay, so I don't literally have 57 pairs of jeans, but I do have quite a collection. But not a single pair was exactly what I wanted to go with this top and these new t-strap heels. The ultra dark skinnies were too long. The right length skinnies were too light. These trouser cut jeans are okay, but cover up the shoes which I really wanted to show off.

Note to self: Buy ultra dark skinny jeans in Short length
.

I got this top recently at Ann Taylor Loft as a final sale item for $6.88. I liked the champagne color, the little gold threads shot through the pattern and the ruffle detail at the neckline. I can also belt it or wear it with a cute vest next time, so it's got lots of versatility.

The shoes were a recent score at Kohl's. They were on clearance for $19.99 plus I had a coupon for $10 off. Now I know t-straps are on the Don't list for us shorties and normally you wouldn't find me in a pair, but I think with a pair of cute skinny jeans they could really work, even on a short girl like me!

Weekend Recap: Saturday and Sunday, July 4 and 5, 2009

T-shirt: Old Navy

Jeans: Express (x2 Slim w10)

So July 4th was a bit of a dud this year. It drizzled the entire day so we just stayed home and bummed around the house. This was good because it was productive. But a major bummer because I didn't get to wear my super cute 4th of July shirt very much. It finally cleared up a bit around 9:30 and we joined the neighbors for the best darn firework show on the cul-de-sac. It was in the low 60's by then, so I covered up with a ratty old hoodie and my yucky yard shoes. Sadly, sometimes you have to forego style for sensibility!

Bad weather aside, isn't this the funnest t-shirt ever? I get a kick out of it every time I read it!

Dress: The Limited

Shoes: Steve Madden

Ring: The Limited

Sunday I slept in until the very last possible minute before church - hence the plastered back ponytail in the picture.

The dress is breezy and light and has a cute ruffle around the collar that's hard to distinguish in the full body shot. I really liked this dress (even more when someone asked if I'd lost weight while I was wearing it!) but seeing the picture now, I think it makes me look kind of old. Maybe it's just the severe hair throwing things off? Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?
