Top: Old Navy
Shorts: Nike
Shoes: New Balance
Here I am, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, at 6:30am on a Saturday. Well, as bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as I can be without my normal Starbucks venti.
I ran my very first 5K today and of course I had to look cute doing it. I can't quite stomach paying $40 for a fancy work-out top that I'm just going to sweat in, so imagine my excitement when I discovered moisture-wicking work-out wear for $5-$20 at Old Navy. I picked up a couple of these cute tops and I long-sleeved gray pullover that I wore until the race started. They are now my favorite things to run in. I'll definitely be watching for a sale so I can stock up on a few more.
One thing I won't be scrimping on anymore? Running shoes! I love my New Balance but now that I am obviously going to stick with this, I feel justified in rewarding myself with a trip to The Running Store for some customized running shoes. And definitely some moisture wicking socks - by the time three miles was done, my feet were on fire!

Congrats on your first race! It is exciting. I did my first 5k last fall as well and then did a 10 miler this past spring. I am doing another 10 miler in 2 weeks. I am going to have to take it easy though because of a recent knee injury. Anyways, I wanted to encourage you about the running shoes. They make such a difference. I could tell on my first run how much better they were.
Congratulations on your first 5K!
Well done completing your first 5k!
